Possibly the hardest experiences to summarize was working on events with the fabulous, Alison Faulkner. Alison is an author, blogger, and inspirational speaker. From 2014-2016, I participated, in some way or another, with 7 events, of which there was up to 600 attendees per event and sponsored by brands like Bing, Munchkin, and LulaRoe. In 2016, I created a 6 ft. tall seashell, and a 5 ft. tall cake.
My contributions to Alison's Birthday Bash included wearable candle headbands, candles for the Throne, cardboard cake slices, 5 ft. pop-out cake on casters, confetti cannons and balloon drop bags acquisition.
Functionality was important, as well as the aesthetics of the cake slices. The dancing sharks (you heard that right!) needed to wear the cardboard cakes, and be able to move around fairly unencumbered. The colors and construction were similar to the large pop-out cake.
These events taught me project planning, team communication, budget and expenditure tracking, large scale preparation and day-of implementation. I also learned, you can never have too much pink or glitter!
