I began quilting in 2019 and joined my local quilt guild. I caught the quilt bug! Typical with all my passions and hobbies, I am hungry to learn new techniques and styles. I am drawn to the modern aesthetic, with geometric designs and often solid fabrics, but I strive to implement traditional processes and skills.
This quilt coat was a gift for my sister, to commemorate her college graduation. She is a true bookworm, and loves Harry Potter. This coat features a hand embroidered "scar" (like Harry's) on the hood, a customized foundation paper pieced Snitch on the chest, a wand pocket inside the lining (with a handmade wand to go in it!), and a back panel with the pattern Gather (by SuzyQuilts).
Using the Too Cool T-Shirt Quilt book by Andrea Funk, I have made many custom t-shirt quilts. This type of quilt is a fantastic gift for a high school or college graduate, who has many memories tied to their plethora of t-shirts. Reimagining them in a cozy and concise way!
One of my favorite projects to date are these two quilted tote bags for my mom and mother-in-law. I combined the patterns of 2 phenomenal Asian American female designers: Cristy from LoveYouSewPatterns and Andrea Tsang Jackson's book Patchwork Lab: Gemology. I customized the gem "cut" and color to my mother and mother-in-law's favorites and customized the interior to meet their needs with an extended key loop, purse feet and magnetic closure.
